Dr. Altaf Khan

Dr. Altaf Khan is a Urologist from Mangalore in Karnataka who is currently associated with Mangalore Urology Centre in addition to teaching Undergraduates, Post graduates and also MCh students in Yenepoya Medical College, Mangalore. An alumnus of JSS Medical College in Mysore from where he has completed MBBS, Dr. Khan pursued MS in General Surgery from Government Medical College in Mysore followed by MCh in Genito urinary Surgery from BJ Medical College and Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad. 

Dr. Khan has worked with Yenepoya Medical College as an Assistant Professor in Surgery, UROCARE in Udupi as Consultant Urologist, and Fr. Muller Medical College and Hospital as Consultant and Assistant Professor in Urology. Dr. Khan spent 3 years at BJ Medical College and Civil Hospital. It is a 4500 bedded Tertiary Referral Hospital in Gujarat and considered as the biggest hospital in Asia. It has a very busy Urology department. Dr. Khan's duties and responsibilities as a Postgraduate Resident included but not limited to

• Initial assessment and management of Urological emergencies in the general surgery and trauma.
• Organizing investigations for in patients and planning discharges and follow-up of in-patients.
• Trained in Basic and Advanced Urological laparoscopic surgeries. 
• Performed more than 1500 urological endoscopic procedures like PCNL, URS, TURP, TURBT, VIU procedures both with and without supervision during my training period.
• Perform urodynamis studies, and uro radiological procedures like VCUG, IVU, RGU.
• Regular presentations in Urological conferences and journal clubs.
• Supervise work done by his junior Postgraduate residents and also teacht them various urological procedures.

Dr. Khan has excellent management skills which he has demonstrated while organizing inter-college functions, educational tours, and clinical and urological society meetings during his post graduation. He takes an active participation in urological and health check up camps in the rural areas. He was actively involved in the teaching programs for the junior interns, medical students and nurse practitioners attached to the medical units during his Post graduate and Super speciality training. He was also actively involved in training undergraduates and post graduates of surgery in Fr. Muller Medical College, Mangalore.
